Way Down, Below the Ocean.......

Somewhere long ago, Donovon sung the song of "Atlantis". It keeps going 'round and 'round in my head. The countdown has begun to a much needed vacation. One full week of glorious sun and sand at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas.

Not only do I get to lie by the ocean, or the pool of my choice, eat and drink until I'm stuffed and stay out dancing until dawn, I also get to 'swim with the Dolphins".

Normally I might balk at such a contrived atmosphere where "trained" Dolphins are "forced" to swim with folks who pay probably too much for the privilage, however, I am so excited about the prospect of somehow commiserating with this gentle and loving creature that I cannot say no. I think the overwhelming magnitude of the encounter might possibly make me faint, if truth be told and I cnnot even imagine how wonderful it will be.

And so there is some trepidation also associated with this, because if I suspect that the Dolphins are not treated with the utmost care, if there is any hint of sadness among them, it will ruin not only the entire encounter, but the entire week.

So I keep my fingers crossed.

All in all it is a much needed respite. With two recent surveys (inspections, audits) at work, (two within one month) it has been overwhelmingly stressful. Combine that with the fact that in this month I've had to relieve 5 staff members of their jobs, nothing entices me more than unlimited eated, drinking, dancing and sun.

Way down, below the ocean, where I want to be.......

Go Donovon.

Two Months

It's been two months to the date that I posted last. Interesting. This weekend had the benefit of giving me a little time to breath, although I should be working on the website I'm doing for a local homeless shelter.

Maybe after my nap.

I started to blog, last week, from New Orleans, complete with pics of Bourbon Street at night in all its glory, but my camera phone wasn't cooperating. Too bad but we did have a great time anyway.

And now he is away again and I had a few days to organize myself. I thought moving in would give me more time. At least we'd spend less time traveling to see one another, but somehow that's not the case. And I guess since I'm still getting used to my living space and my new job, I am not organized and the days slip by.

What bothers me the most these days; the declining state of healthcare due to the rising costs and the effort to keep those costs down. The push is on, to train, not so well educated, non-licensed staff, to do the work that licensed staff used to do. It's a travesty. The government needs to give more aid to hospitals and for profit companies need to think twice about their profit margins.

Please.

Oh Yeah, I really love the TV :-)

How Big Is Too Big?

I can't say I was on the same page. I would much prefer the beautiful mirror that goes with the beautiful dresser. But he had other ideas. A huge flat screen TV with surround sound and all of the bells and whistles.

Frankly I'd been advising him to get a bedroom TV for years. But never did I expect a monster above the dresser. I expected a small and discreetly placed (like inside the armoire) TV.

We really needed the washer and dryer but the TV, well that was a surprise. While purchasing one appliance why not purchase more? He had called me excitedly from the store one day. Could I pass there on my way home to see what he wanted to buy.

Finally installed, the TV hung from it's mount, a huge black space just hanging there because lo and behold, the cable coming into the room had no signal. After much trial and tribulation and a cable guy visiting we found that out.

So tonight, Pat, our handyman extraordinaire, has it working. Yippppeee, it's wonderful. A full 40 inches of high definition Jerry Seinfeld. And the irony of it all is that he is away on a business trip and won't return until Friday.

Sweet.
