I Bit The Apple

I am consummed.

I haven't purchased a new electronic gadget in some time and I do love those things. So I rushed around Tuesday, to rearrange appointments and gym time to get to the AT&T store while the best phone techie (Maurice) was still there. I just had to have the iPhone. Had to.

It is beautifully packaged, and even the room held it's breath when I unwrapped it all. It is carefully encased in a hard plastic tray inside a small box with the desktop display. It is elegant, amazingly so.

The colors in the display are vibrant. The sounds are great and the ability to create personalized ringtones is really fun. The interface with the iTunes program, a no brainer. I receive my mail. I have my contacts. It's all fingertip easy.

Of course, it does not happen without some problems and I spent the better part of the day yesterday troubleshooting them. I think I have it figured out now.

But, love is patient and kind, it does not criticize. I am in love.

Gadget Envy

There are a million reasons why I should not purchase one of these now. (Maybe not a million but more than a few good ones).

For one thing, the best is yet to come. There are some limitations to the phone as is. It will be improved, improved and improved over the next months (years).

It's expensive.

It doesn't have voice recognition.

It uses AT&T's slow Edge network.

It's the first incarnation. Never buy something on the first incarnation.

But I am afraid that it's all a mute point.

I have to have it. Can't live without it. Need it, want it, must have it.

I am smitten. It is sleek, colorful, amazing and sexy.

So, between today and Wednesday, I will have one.

It just has to be.
