Home Sweet Home
While I really enjoyed my visit to Texas and of course time with the people I went to visit, it's always good to be home.
We had the same flight to Newark and then he boarded another plane for Buffalo. More business. He'll be back on Friday.
Flying is ok with me. I do it enough to have become an Elite on Continental Airlines but not enough for it to be second nature. The take offs and landings have always caused me some consternation and even in the air, I'm always on the alert for a sound or a feeling that indicates something is amiss. I hate air pockets.
On the fligt home I got to fly in the first class space since he received an upgrade and he gave it to me. I want to say that first class is not that big a deal. I want to say that for all the times I fly coach. But first class is really awesome.
The thing is, the seat is leather, soft and wider than the coach seats, so even if you're not tired you want to fall asleep. You get hot towels before your meal. You get anything you want and the flight attendants really dote on you. Considering the poor quality of airline food, normally some unidentifiable patty on some sort of bread with a salad that is old lettuce, the food in first class is..well...first class.
Yesterday my stomach was not behaving and I wanted something light. I ordered the cereal (oh there are choices), and got not only a huge bowl of cereal but also, a bowl of yogurt, a banana and a bowl of fresh fruit. The flight attendant came around with a basket of huge cinamon buns. I refrained, but the entire first class cabin smelled wonderful.
But one of the best things about first class, the thing I usually like to partake in (I've flown it often because he gets alot of upgrades and he's very generous) is the unlimited amount of alcohol you can have for free.
So on a long flight, and one which is not at 7:00 am because that is even too early for me to drink, I can consume a whole bunch of Bloody Marys (my favorite airline drink) to take the edge off the idea that,
"if God had meant for us to fly he would have given us wings".Labels: airline, flying, travel
